Mathias Lauridsen – The Scar Makes the Star?

October 22, 2009

Mathias Lauridsen may not be a name recognisable to the general public, but his face certainly would be.  Mathias is a very high-profile made model, and has appeared in major advertising campaings for Gucci, Jil Sander, Givenchy, Hugo Boss and Dior Homme.

Born in Copenhagen in Denmark on 13 January 1984, Mathias was discovered on the streets of Copenhagen at the age of 18.  (As Mathias himself said, modelling was not a career that he’d even though about, before being offered an opportunity by a total stranger).  Mathias made his debut on the catwalks of Fashion weeks in New York and Paris in September 2003, modelling for Lacoste, Miu Miu and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Whis his nordic blonde style, and unique look, Mathias has an alluring presence, winning admiring glances from many fans.  The scar of his left cheek (the result of an accident with a broken when he was younger) helps bring an extra something to his face.

Since 2003 Mathias has starred in a multitude of promotional campaigns, fashion runways, and editorials, appearing regularly in the top fashion magazines L’Uomo Vogue, GQ, Vogure Paris and Numéro Homme . He’s been the face of Hermès, Tomy Hilfiger, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Kenzo, Perry Ellis, DKNY, Lacoste, Gucci. and Hugo Boss.

At the moment Mathias is on the books of Scoop in Copenhagen, New York Model Management in New York, and Ford Models in Paris.

Mathias loves sport – soccer is passion.  He also likes drawing, listening to rock music, and riding his bike round his home town.

Tyson Ballou – Hottest Man on the Planet?

October 22, 2008

Tyson Ballou was born and raised in Garland Texas.  When he was just 9 years old, his father died in a horrific accident, crushed by a car he was trying to fix. Being the eldest of 3, Tyson rose to the challenge of becoming the eldest man in the household. Perhaps this chapter in his life accounts for his quiet and serious nature.  At school, a major interest was basketball, a sport he still follows keenly.  When he was 15, his mom accompanied him on a trip to Dallas, to see Susan Kaleta of the Page Parkes modeling agency.  The professional’s eye noted Tyson chiselled and handsome features, and persuaded him to work for her agency on a part-time basis. So Tyson got his first small break, modeling for well-known names like JC Penney’s and Foley’s.

After high-school Tyson joined up to study at Richard College. But just half-way through the course, a scout from the prestigious Ford modeling agency approached him offering a lure of lucrative work in New York.  Tyson dropped out of college, and spent a good deal of time travelling back and forth to America’s fashion capitol.   A year afterwards, Tyson transferred to the IMG agency, agreeing to station himself full time in  New York.

Tyson’s career took off.  His unmistakeable style and charisma on the catwalk attracted the attention of all the top fashion houses.  He’s since gone on to model for all the big names, including Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce and Gabbana, Calvin Klein, Armani and Versace.

At home, away from the fashion merry-go-round, Tyson is still a quiet reflective type.  His plans for the future? Acting perhaps, and to quote Tyson himself ‘I would love to have a wife and a few kiddies’.

Tyson Beckford

June 23, 2008

Tyson BeckfordAs a 21 year old, Tyson Beckford was introduced to a features contributor from the magazine The Source.   The man mooted the idea that Tyson should try out as a model.  After several attempts, Tyson was finally taken on by a NYC model agency.

Early in his career, Tyson was given a modelling assignment working with the well-connected fashion photographers Bruce Weber and Herb Ritts.  When working on the shoot Ralph Lauren happened by the studio – the fashion icon and guru noticed Tyson, and asked him to model for RL.

In 1993 Tyson landed the lead in a nationwide advertising campaign for the famous fashion house.  The resulting promotion rapidly built Tyson’s image and reputation.  Soon he was appearing on magazine covers such as Vogue, GQ, The New York Times.  He was also much in demand for fashion show work.

To further his career, Tyson moved into TV shows, including Magic Hour, Mad TV, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Zoolander and ANTM.  But besides these ‘celebrity appearances’, Tyson showed himself to be a naturally talented actor. In 2002, he landed his debut movie part, in Pandora’s Box. More films followed, such as Biker Boyz, and Into The Blue. In 2008 Tyson co-produced for the first time (also appearing in a lead role) in the successful Hotel California.

Eduardo Verastegui

March 13, 2008

Eduardo VerasteguiEduardo Verastegui was raised in a agricultural family of modest means. As a teenager he became interested in acting and attended acting classes.  After school he enrolled at Tamaulipas University to study law.  Shortly into the course he was approached by a modeling agent. Eduardo decided to seize the opportunity, dropping out of college to model full-time. He was quickly in big demand from all the top fashion houses, appearing in promotions for names like  Versace and Calvin Klein.

The multi-talented Eduardo was also a member of the pop group named Kairo.  The boy band became unbelievably successful in Latin America, producing top selling records, and playing to packed-out gigs.

After about 3 years, Kairo came to a natural end, and Verástegui turned to his first love acting.  With his new found boy band fame, he managed to land several parts in Mexcian TV ‘telenovelas’.

In 2002, Eduardo met (by chance) the head of casting from Fox on a plane trip.  The meeeting led to Eduardo starring in the well received comedy movie Chasing Papi. Another film success Bella followed in 2006.
